Who founded it?

  • The Mennonite movement was founded by Menno Simmons

time period

  • The denomination was founded in the 17th century in Switzerland. In the 18th century, it moved to the U.S. due to immigrants moving to Pennsylvania

Why was it founded?

  • The denomination was formed after many persecutions and after many of the Anabaptists groups were formed. The Mennonites are a formed of Anabaptists.

  • The most important writing of the Mennonite denomination is the Bible

Sacraments

  • Mennonites believe in the sacraments and believe that they are an essential part of life and are very important

Worship

  • The denomination has worship services on Sunday's with ministers. They also sing a lot together.

Authority

  • They believe that the leaders have the most authority within the denomination.

Leadership

  • They believe the leadership comes with the priest first, and then the rest follow.

Fun Facts

  • I have learned that Mennonites are a form of an Amish denomination also.
  • Amish people are not allowed to drive however Mennonites are allowed to drive.

  • There is actually a Mennonite based farm right down the street from my house named "Fairmount Farms" in Franklin, MA.
