  • Royalty were filthy rich.
  • e queens were most often daughters of another king or from powerful families.

  •  Ancient Egyptian men wore skirts of linen.
  •  Women wore a straight ankle-length dress.
  • Young men wore white silk shirts.
  • Over this they wore an abbreviated tunic and close-fitting tights.
  • Men’s hairstyles were long and hats were set at angles.

  • Ladies’ gowns had square necklines.
  • From 1520 to 1545 the fashionable shape was governed by the addition of padded puffs
  • This idea was derived from the dress of Swiss and Bavarian mercenaries.

Peasants' life

  • Nine-tenths of the people living in the Medieval Times were peasants.
  • Many peasants suffered from famines.
  • One village housed ten to sixty families.
  • Children were usually named after close relatives or saints.
  • Houses were made of stone or branches covered with mud and straw.

Peasants' life

  • Most houses had only two small windows made of glass
  • The main crops that was grown were corn, wheat, beans.
  • The beds were piles of dried leaves with animal skins to cover. 
  • Every residence had a vegetable patch.
  • Peasants labored 260 days a year.

  • lord's village or castle

  • Lord of the Manor govern the community and appointed officials who made sur
  • The jobs were farming the demesne, or lord’s land, and paying rents in the
  • The lord acted as a judge in the manor court and had the power to fine thos
  • Manors were often isolated, so villagers had to produce their own things
  • some things like salt and iron came from outside people’s houses

Running a manor

  • The only visitors were peddlers, pilgrims, and soldiers
  • Few people traveled far from their own village.

DEath and diseases

  • In only 10, it had killed over one-third of Europe’s population.
  • People were sick everywhere, and villages got wiped out one after another.
  •  People thought that if they could protect themselves, they wouldn’t get infected
