IMOVIE TIPS

STARTING OFF

  • Upload the video clips you plan on editing, whether it be from an iPhone or video camera.
  • Choose a template that matches the topic you are working with.

ARRANGEMENT

  • Left click and highlight portions of video clips.
  • Click on the (+) button that appears, and the video will be added to your editing line.
  • Scrubbing: dragging your mouse over the video clips for quick viewing of material.

TRANSITIONS AND TITLES

  • Click on the transition tab on the bottom left corner.
  • After choosing a transition, click on it and drag it before or after the video clip you are working with.
  • Kissing arrows: the symbols that appear when a transition has been chosen.
  • The same steps apply for adding a title. However, there is one more option offered by iMovie regarding titles. Along with being able to drag titles before and after videos, titles can also be dragged above videos in order for the text to appear on the actual video itself.

SOUND EFFECTS

  • Apple offers a wide variety of sound effects.
  • After choosing one, drag it above the section of video you want it to play.
  • In order to adjust the length of the sound effect, just click on the edge of the effect box and adjust accordingly.

TIPS

  • Use the space bar to play your video and view your progress
  • Adjust the time length of your transitions by clicking on the kissing arrows.
  • Zoom in/out of your clips by adjusting the pointer below your video screen.
