They where supposed to land in Virginia, because that is were their agreement said they had to go.
They landed in Provincetown, because the rough weather and seas changed their rout.
The Mayflower Compact was a code of behavior for the Plymouth.
If the Mayflower ship would have not changed destination, the Compact would have never happened, or anything that had to do with self government.
The original Mayflower Compact has been lost, due to the Revolutionary War looting.
