PLOT SUMMARY
This book starts of in the cruel and desert-like city of Quill. Alex, Lani, and Meghan are going to be Purged where they will decide if they are unwanted, necessary, or wanted (wanted’s are the best in Quill). But unfortunately, they become unwanted in Quill. They then leave the city and go to the Great Lake of Boiling Oil where they will perish.But instead he finds a world that he thought never existed. To find out what happens then, you’ll have to read the book more to find out.

MAIN CHARACTERS
Three main characters in my story are Alex, Lani, and Meghan. What I like about these characters is that
They are best friends and they are loyal to each other in the whole book.

CONNECTIONS
The Unwanteds is a book series that also has 5 (soon to be 6 this year) books in it. The books in the series are The Unwanteds (the book I'm talking about right now) The Island of Silence, The Island of Fire, The Island of Legends, and The Island of Shipwrecks(the 6th one is going to be The Island of Graves). It has a connection to other fantasy and action-adventure books like the Percy Jackson series or the Merlin series (I bet none of you even knew about that book series).

RATINGS
I would give this book a 9 ½ /10 because it was a very good read and it was hard to put it down. This book was also pretty cool on some parts of the story like the fighting parts. But I can't wait any longer for the next book to come out and I have to admit I am getting a little impatient.

WHO SHOULD READ THIS BOOK
The Unwanteds can be a really good book for people with ages of 11-16, especially for people who like action-adventure and fantasy books.

There was a hint of wind coming over the top of the stone walls and through the barbed-wire sky on the day Alexander Stowe was to be Purged. Alex waited in the dusty Commons of Quill and felt the light breeze cooling the sweat on his upper lip. His twin brother, Aaron, stood beside him; their parents, behind. And all around, the entire community of Quill watched and waited, the bland looks of sleeping fish on their faces.
