PRESENTATION OUTLINE

ALL ABOUT INVERSE PROPERTIES

  • There are two types of inverse properties; Additive inverse, Multiplicative inverse.
  • Additive inverse: The number you add to get to 0. Ex. The additive inverse of -3 is 3 because -3+3=0.
  • Multiplicative inverse: if you multiply a number by its "Multiplicative inverse," you get 1.
  • Ex. 4x1/4=1
  • A number multiplied by it's reciprocal =1.

ALL ABOUT IDENTITY PROPERTY

  • The types of identity property are addition and multiplication properties.
  • Definition of identity property of addition is- any number added to 0 = itself.
  • Ex. 4+0=4
  • Definition of identity property of multiplication is- a number multiplied by 1= itself.Ex. 10x1=10
  • An addition or multiplication equation where the answer ends up equaling a factor or addend.

ALL ABOUT COMMUTATIVE PROPERTIES

  • The types of commutative properties are commutative property of addition and multiplication.
  • Commutative property of Addition: The order the of addends doesn't change the sum. Ex. 4+7=7+4
  • Commutative property of multiplication: The order of factors doesn't change the product.
  • Ex. 4x5=5x4
  • It doesn't matter the order of factors or addends in an equation, you will get the same result.

ALL ABOUT ASSOCIATIVE PROPERTY

  • The two types of associative property is addition and multiplication.
  • Addition- when 3 or more number are added you will get the same sum no matter the order of the addends.
  • Ex. (2+3)+4=2+(3+1)
  • Multiplication- no matter the order of factors you will get the Sam product when three or more factors are multiplied.
  • Ex. (2x3)x4=3x(4x2). When three or more number are multiplied or Added you get the same result no matter order of numbers

ALL ABOUT DISTRIBUTIVE PROPERTY

  • Definition- multiplying a group of numbers added together is the same as doing each number by itself.
  • A- 2x4=2x2x2
  • B-3x4=3x2x2
  • If you multiply a group of numbers added together and then you do each one separately, you will get
  • The same answer.
