BACKGROUND

  • Born in Leeuwarden, Netherlands
  • Parents-Sara and George Escher
  • Youngest of 5 brothers
  • At and early age he could visualize distinct spatial patterns

EDUCATION

  • Didn't do well in school, but was good at drawing
  • Enrolled into Haarlem's school for architecture and decorative arts
  • Studied graphic art

M.C. Escher died on 27th March 1972 in Laren, North Holland Netherlands in a retirement home for artists. He was 73.
