Q: If I asked my family how many pairs of gloves they go through during the winter, how do I find the mmmr?

A: It’s simple. Let’s start. Let’s say your family of 6 responds that they have gone through 3, 4, 7, 2 and 3 pairs.

First let’s find the mean. Add up those numbers and you get 20. Divide that by 5, because that’s how many people are in your family. Then you have your answer, 4.

Now, let’s find the median. Sort the numbers from least to greatest (3, 3, 3, 4 and 7). Then you have to find the number in the middle of the group. If you have an even number, you have to take your 2 middle numbers and find the mean of the two. Then you get your answer. For this problem, the answer is 3.

Next let’s find the mode. In your group of numbers, there should be one number that repeats. In this problem, take a look to see if there are any numbers repeating. There is 3 so there is your mode.

Last, let’s find the range. Find your largest number and your smallest number and subtract the smallest from the largest (7 minus 3). When you get your answer, that is your final range answer (4).
