-Ratio
A comparison of two quantities using division.
An example is 3:4.
-Equivalent Ratios
Ratios that name the same comparison.
An example is 6:6=3:3
-Rate
A way to compare two quantities that have different units of measure.
An Example is 2 liters to $1.98.
-Unit Rate
A rate in which the second quantity in the comparison is one unit.
An example is 69:1.
Proportion
An equation that shows two equivalent ratios.
An exampLe is
50:100 is to 25:50.
Corresponding Sides
Matching sides of two or more polygons.
An example is 🎲 and 🎲 have the same sides.
Corresponding Angles
Matching angles of two or more polygons.
An example is two equilateral triangles.
Similar
Two or more objects that have the same shape but not the same size.
An example is the background picture
Direct measurement
where the measurement of something is found by the direct measuring of a tool.
An example is if you measured a tree by using a measuring tape and climbing the tree.
Indirect Measurment
where the measurement of something is not found by the direct measuring of a tool.
An example is if you measured a tree by using its shadow and person with his shadow and height.
Scale Drawing
A drawing of a real object that is proportionally smaller or bigger than the real object.
An example is a drawing of a square that is 2 feet when the real square is 2 inches.
Scale
A ratio between two sets of measurements.
An example is a square that is 2:2 inches to a square that is 4:4 inches.
Percent
A ratio of a number to 100.
An example is 4/5 x 20 = 0.80 = 80%.
Tip
An amount added to a bill for service.
An example is giving someone a 15% tip if it costs $30.00.
Discount
An amount that is subtracted from the regular price of an item.
An example is 25% off of a $14.00 item.
Sales tax
An amount added to the price of an item.
An example is a $100.00 item has 9.25% sales tax.
