Mastodon, il Social Network Decentralizzato

Quando utilizziamo Facebook o Twitter, ci affidiamo di fatto a un'unica azienda con tutti i nostri dati. E non solo. Controllano anche quali post sono consentiti sulle loro piattaforme. Se i vostri non seguono le regole, il vostro account può essere chiuso e non c'è nulla che possiate fare.

Soluzione: Mastodon Allora, come possiamo risolvere questo problema? Beh, potremmo rendere i social media più decentralizzati. E questo ci porta a Mastodon. Un progetto open source che vuole rimettere nelle vostre mani i social network.

Mastodon è fondamentalmente come Twitter. I tweet si chiamano "toots" e possono essere lunghi fino a 500 caratteri, contro i soli 280. Potete seguire le persone che trovate interessanti e ritwittare o "boost" i toots che vi piacciono.

Allora, in cosa è diverso? Le istanze non sono controllate da una sola azienda. È un progetto libero e ognuno può prendere una copia del codice e impostare il proprio server Mastodon, detto anche istanza. Inoltre, il proprietario di un'istanza è spesso un membro della comunità che definisce le regole per il proprio server.
