The Americanization of the Contempory World Cultures through Social media.

Introducation
The American culture has a heavy impact on the contemporary world cultures; it is so dominant and available everywhere on Earth. It has come to characterize what is up to the minute. Social media paved the way for the American culture to be internationally aped and diffused at the detriment of native cultures. It is noticed that one of the categories of which influenced most is EFL learners.

Research Questions

• Did social media pave the way for the Americanization of contemporary world cultures?
• Are the contemporary world cultures being Americanized?
• Did social media pave the way for the Americanization of the contemporary world cultures?

Objectives

• Determine the meaning and impact of Americanization.
• Determine the role of social media in the Americanization.
• Make Master Two EFL learners aware of the damages of Americanization.
• Make them distinguish between Americanization and Globalization.

Aims

• We aim to:
• Encourage EFL learners at Abbass Laghrour University to deal with up to date cultural topics.
• Motivate them to think about how they can make good use of the new technology while protecting their cultural identities.

The Choice of the Method

• Descriptive Approach: we aimed to describe an actual situation involving data gathering that describes the investigated event, orgnizes, tabulates, depicts, and describes the data collection.
• Qualitaive: The Instagram accounts represent the non-verbal data for which the qualitative method was needed.
• Quantitative: The statistical results represented by the students' questionnaire required the quantitative method.

Data Gathering Tools

• Observation: the most suitable tool for gathering the nonverbal data from the videos and photos taken from Instagram accounts.
• Students’ Questionnaire: For the sake of exploring their perspectives on the topic of the study, and compare the results of the observation with the results of the questionnaire.

Population

• Instagram: Nine Instagram accounts chosen depending on a judgmental sampling.
• Students: 30 Master Two students were chosen randomly out of approximately 68 students.

Conclusion
To be sure, Americanization is one of the most complicated concepts of the history of the modern cultural criticism, and, the new ways of communication represented by social media are considered to be a solid foundation for the transformation of world cultures.

Recommendtions

• We recommend teachers to deal with an up to dated cultural topics instead of teaching old cultural and historical ones only.
• We recommend EFL learners to be aware of the side damages of the cultural imperialism, especially when it comes to the cultural identity.
• We also recommend them to protect their cultural native culture, and cultural identity while obtaining new cultural traditions.
• We recommend that everyone should be aware of the difference between Americanization and Globalization.
• One last recommendation goes that people should aware of the bad effects of social media, and try to find ways to spread their culture as well not absorbing one culture at the expense of their indigenous cultures

Suggestions

• We suggest that future researches and studies will be made on this topic; because this just an introductory research for very vast field.Time and space were not appropriate to cover all the sides.
