Jenny Wong-Welch

STEM Librarian
My name Jenny Wong-Welch and I am the STEM Librarian at SDSU.

A short bio about me is that I grew up in San Diego. In fact, I went to Point Loma High. I received my bachelors from UCSD in Mathematics and Economics. Then I went on to get my Masters degree from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign in Library and Information Science.

Part of my job is being the director of build IT, which I created last February. It provide me with an avenue to connect with student through teaching design and making.

One question you might have is does a librarian do. A librarian helps gather and organize information for everyone to use and build upon. As a librarian at SDSU, I am a faculty member, so I am expected to teach.

By teaching in build IT, I am able to encourage you all on information literacy, which has six basic principles.

Authority Is Constructed and Contextual
Information Creation as a Process
Information Has Value
Research as Inquiry
Scholarship as Conversation
Searching as Strategic Exploration

So that's a short bio of me, everyone go around introduce yourself and your major.
