PRESENTATION OUTLINE

mass vs. weight

by: Sydney Holster

mass part 1

  • Mass is the SAME EVERYWHERE.
  • It is the same on earth as it is in outer space.
  • Mass is measured on a balance.
  • The object goes on the red container.

mass part 2

  • Mass is how much stuff an object has.
  • Example:
  • A bowling ball and a soccer ball are the same size,
  • but the bowling ball has a lot more mass then the other.

weight part 1

  • Measured how hard gravity's pull on it.
  •  Depends on how much gravity is there.
  • Can change depending on location.
  • If the pull increase the weight does.
  • If the pull decreases the weight does too.

weight part 2

  • Example: Weight is less on the moon then on Earth.
  • Then in outer space you are almost nothing.
