WHAT IS A MASHUP/QUODLIBET?

A MASHUP OR QUODLIBET IS A MEDLEY CREATED BY COMBINING ELEMENTS OF MUSIC FROM TWO OR MORE SONGS. THE FUSING OF TUNES MAY ALSO BE PRESENT.

RHYTHM

  • created by the integration of components from both songs
  • ostinato from Uptown Funk can be heard
  • four/four timing in use
  • tempo from Uptown Funk is utilised
  • idea of Lips are Moving is altered due to speed modification

EXPRESSIVE DEVICES/DYNAMICS

  • seems louder in chorus than verse
  • dramatic build up to climactic sector
  • adds more instruments to make song appear louder
  • Lips are Moving does not adhere to build up configuration
  • can cause piece to be more exhilarating and appealing to audience

PITCH AND MELODY
