Lord Baltimore the Second founded Maryland in 1634. Lord Baltimore the First died before he founded the colony.
Lord Baltimore wanted to create a safe haven for English Catholics.
Also a place for Catholics and Protestants not to fight.
The colony mainly consisted of Catholics. However there was also Protestants there.
Maryland has fertile soil that is great for growing crops on. The climate of Maryland is very rainy and frozen in the winter and very warm in the summer.
Maryland had a variety of crops because of its fertile soil. There was also an abundance of lumber, shipping, mining, fishing, and livestock.
The main religion of Maryland was Catholicism. There was also some Protestant refugees.
Freed men had the right to vote. The colony also had the right to declare war, print money, and the right to practice any religion.
