ROOTS.

  • Roots are parts of plants that are under the stem.
  • Most roots are underground.
  • Some roots are in water.
  • Some roots are in air.
  • Roots store food for plants.

STEM.

  • The stem holds the flower and Leaves up.
  • Sunflowers have straight stems that grow long and tall to lift the leaves up.
  • The stem lifts the leaves to the sunlight.
  • A stem has many tiny tubes which carry water from the roots to the leaves.

FLOWERS.

  • Many plants use flowers to make new seeds.
  • Pollen from these orange flowers is carried by insects to ovules inside other orange flowers.

LEAVES

  • Trees, bushes and flowers all have leaves.
  • Leaves come in all shapes and sizes.
  • The topside of a leaf is tough and smooth.
  • The underside of leaves are usually paler and sometimes hairy.
  • In autumn, the leaves of many trees change colour and fall off.
