PRESENTATION OUTLINE
Day 1
Martin King is sitting on the bus. The driver says he has to move to the back so white people can sit down. Martin is only 15. He gets angry and refuses to move. The bus driver starts swearing and gets angrier. Martins teacher sitting next to him covinces him to get up
Day 2
Martin is 26. He goes into his car and rushes to the Holt street church. A crowd of people asked him to lead them in a protest. Against the the bus line that made Rosa parks get off the bus. After that day he becomes a civil rights leader.
Day 3
Martin is 31. He has joined his father and taken the role of assistant pastor. Police officers barge in and say they are arresting martin for tax evasion. The arrest had nothing to do with taxes. They just wanted the civil rights movement to end.
Day 4
Martin and a bunch of other civil rights leaders ride around on buses. People start to get mad at them. They attack the protestors. Martin is one of them. Mobs slashed the tires and smashed the windows. They threw fire bombs inside and beat them with chains.
Day 5
Martin is writing a copy of the Declaration of Independance. Although he is writing it in jail. He is writing on paper that was smuggled in. The authorities don't want him there because they look bad.
Day 6
Martin is about to give a speech. They're not too far from the Lincoln Memorial is washington. He speaks in front of thousands about his dream for america.
Day 7
Martin is going to recieve the Nobel Peace Prize. Though he knows hoover, the head of the FBI wants to ruin his reputation. He is invited to the whitehouse to discuss voting rights with the President.
Day 8
King realizes if they protest against selma to vote the sheriff will show brutality and beat them. King has the idea because if this happens more people will realize it is a good idea. It drew the attention of the KKK. One of them almost got close enough to punch King in the face. Evantually king was put in jail again. Though a letter was sent out by him saying there are more colored people in jail than can vote.
Day 9
James Meredith started marches againnst fear. Although soon after he was shot by a sniper. King found out about this and and started them back up in honor of him.
Day 10
King gives a speech to underpaid workers. He gives them hope in their struggle aginst poverty. After this speech in 1968 congress passes the civil rights act which bars discrimination in housing.
