Create and Promote.

Build your publishing catalogue on Amazon.
You can’t afford to forget daily creation, because you’re focused on promotion. Creation is vital if you’re writing books.

While you're promoting your ebook, write another one.

And another. Write short ebooks:

In days gone by, months and years could pass before you got an agent and publisher. If you did manage to interest either one, they wanted to see “WHAT ELSE YOU’VE GOT”. They wanted to make sure that you were set up for the long haul – why waste money on a one-book wonder?

Keep Writing, as You Market Your Book(s).

Nothing has changed in the digital age. These days, readers want to see “WHAT ELSE YOU’VE GOT” too.
Create, as you promote.

Here’s the most sensible and useful insight on all publishing, not just self-publishing:

“Often times success in self publishing comes just from publishing a well-written book in a marketplace where people can find it.”

To market your book...

Write more books.
Write as if Your Marketing Depended on It, Because It Does.

How will people find your books? By searching Amazon. By having your books show up when they look at other books.

If you’ve got a good catalogue on Amazon, YOU WILL SELL BOOKS.

Keep writing.

Consider the creator of "Flappy Bird"...
Your marketing depends on your writing. In the analogue age, if you interested a publisher, they were interested in more than one book. Today, if you interest readers, they want more than one book too.

And then there's "Flappy Bird": it provides a useful lesson in discoverability.

"... with about 25,000 new apps going online every month, Flappy Bird was lost in the mix and seemed like a bust – until, eight months later, something crazy happened. The game went viral. By February, it was topping the charts in more than 100 countries and had been downloaded more than 50 million times. Nguyen was earning an estimated $50,000 a day. Not even Mark Zuckerberg became rich so fast."
(From an article in Rolling Stone.)

Why did Flappy Bird start making his creator $50,000 a day, eight months after he launched it? One reason only… It was published in the App Store, and people found it.

Who knows? Maybe one of your ebooks will be the equivalent of Flappy Bird and suddenly take off. (Pun intended.)

To Sell more Ebooks...

Write more ebooks. Your books must be found.
How will people find your books? By searching Amazon. By having your books show up when they look at other books.

If you’ve got a good catalogue on Amazon, YOU WILL SELL BOOKS.

That’s all marketing your book comes down to: people finding it. Now go and write.

Create and Promote.

In this digital age, selling ebooks depends on readers discovering YOU.
Have fun marketing your ebooks. It's a lot easier than you think.

Who knows, your ebook may be the next Flappy Bird. :-)
