Marie Curie was a Polish scientist who won a Nobel prize in both Chemistry and Physics. She was the first female professor of the University of Paris, and made ground-breaking work in the field of Radioactivity.

Her family was poor but they still had great education. She was the youngest of five children. One of her sisters died of cancer and she wanted to help, that's what inspired her to look for a cure.

When her husband Pierre Curie died she was so sad and through herself into the studies of Radioactivity. In 1898 she found two new elements.

After she won her first peace prize people started to follow her and encourage her.

Shift📈
She accomplished what she wanted because she discovered radium. Radium can burn away diseased cells, therefore nearly taking away the disease.
