Hemisphere - A half of the earth, usually as divided into northern and southern halves by the equator

PRIME MERIDIAN

a planet's meridian is at zero of longitude.

*EQUATOR*

An imaginary line drawn around the earth equally distant from both poles.

*MAP KEY*

explanatory table of symbols used on a map or chart

Map scale - A ratio which compares a measurement on a map to the actual distance between locations identified on the map

COMPASS ROSE

a circle showing the directions on a map or chart.

»PHYSICAL MAP«

A physical map is a map that has texture

Political Map - Political maps are designed to show governmental boundaries of countries, states and counties. They can also indicate the location of major cities, and they usually include significant bodies of water.

Elevation - is height above or below sea level.

Latitude - is the distance of a place north or south of the earth's equator.

Longitude - is the distance of a place east or west of the prime meridian.

Absolute location - A point on the earth's surface such as latitude and longitude.

Landforms - a natural feature of the earth's surface.
