Mana island is a place for endangered birds just like the takahe. There are 60 left of those flightless birds on the island and takahe were once belived to be exstinced.

The maori name for the island is the mana of kupe.

The Vella family lives on the island they farmed the sheep until they got a disese and had to go. They also invented the whaling station.

The island also has a bird sanctuary so you can look at all the different beautiful birds.

Mice and pests were removed from the island so that they wouldn't eat all the eggs and cause a heap of trouble.

Kiwis and takahe were transported to the island in the helicopter mana.

There were lots of shipwrecks that got confused because of the pincarru lighthouse.

The island is also home to the cook strait weta.

And is also home to something called the whitikas skink.

There are 2 mana islands there is one in Fiji and one here. I like our mana island more.
