Antonio Meucci was from Florence, Italy. He moved from Italy to Cuba, and then to North America. He was born April 13, 1808 and died in 1889 at 81 years old.

Antonio is the first of nine children. His parent's names are Amatis Meucci and Domenica Pepi. Amatis was at times a government clerk and a member of the local police and Domenica was a homemaker.
In November 1821, at the age of 15, Antonio went to the Florence Academy of Fine Arts where he studied chemical engineering. Before the age of 18, Antonio worked as an assistant gatekeeper. He then went to work at the Teatro Della Pergola as a stage technician.

Antonio made a big impact on the United States. He invented a communication device like a telephone. He also was an inventor, businessman, and supporter of Italian unification.

Here are some fun facts on Antonio Meucci. Antonio began by putting the communication device in his home so he could communicate with his sick wife. Antionio went into poverty because of too much debt in 1861. In 1870 he was able to create a communication device that he called the telettrofono.
