Malham Cove is a huge curved stadium shaped cliff made out of limestone rock. The vertical face of the cliff is about 260 feet high. The top of the cove is a large area of limestone pavement.
Gordale Scar is a spectacular gorge, which includes waterfalls, deep inside the limestone hillside. The gorge was produced by water from melting glaciers sometime over the last three million years. Gordale Scar is one of the highlights of a visit to Malham.
Malham Tarn is England's highest freshwater lake. The Tarn level was raised by Lord Ribblesdale in the 19th century by means of a dam and sluice gate at the southern end of the tarn.
