LUNG CANCER

WHAT IS IT?

LUNG CANCER IS:

  • There are two types of lung cancer: Non-Small Cell lung cancer, and Small Cell lung cancer.
  • Lung cancer is a type of cancer that begins in the lungs. Your lungs are two spongy organs in your chest that take in oxygen when you inhale and release carbon dioxide when you exhale.
  • Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer deaths worldwide.

SYMPTOMS OF LUNG CANCER:

  • A new cough that doesn't go away.
  • Coughing up blood, even a small amount.
  • Shortness of breath
  • Chest pain
  • Hoarseness
  • Losing weight without even trying.
  • Bone pain
  • Headache

CAUSES OF LUNG CANCER:

  • Smoking
  • People exposed to secondhand smoking
  • Family line having lung cancer before you.

WHAT CAN A PERSON DO TO AVOID THE DISEASE

  • Dont smoke
  • Stop smoking ( if you already were smoking )
  • Avoid secondhand smoking
  • Eat a diet of heathy fruits and vegetables.
  • Exercise almost every day

TREATMENTS FOR LUNG CANCER:

  • Surgery
  • Radiation therapy
  • Chemotherapy
  • Stereotactic body radiotherapy
  • Targeted drug therapy
  • Immunotherapy
  • Pallitive care

  • A person with lung cancer has a average of 19% percent of living for 5 years.
  • One famous person that battled lung cancer was Walt Disney.
