• Courtesy is a school of sensitivity & restraint

• Interior hostility: sees others as threatening or troublesome
• Indignation is ok if it's a reaction to grave injustice
• When annoyed: ask God to bless, free & heal that person

LOVE DOES NOT BROOD OVER INJURY

• Not resentful
• Understands and excuses other people's weaknesses
• Open to understanding, forbearance, pardon, reconciliation

DOESNT REJOICE OVER WRONGDOING

• Instead of rejoicing at seeing injustice done to others, it rejoices in the right
• Rejoices at the good of others
• Not comparing nor competing with others & secretly rejoicing in their failures

REJOICES WITH THE TRUTH

LOVE BEARS ALL THINGS

• Limiting judgment, checking the impulse to condemn ruthlessly
• Holding the tongue: not to speak evil (slander) against another
• Sees weakness/faults in a wider context: all of us are a complex mixture of light and shadows

• Trust: not presuming that the other is not lying or cheating but recognizes God's light shining beyond the darkness
• Not controlling but setting others free
• Not possessing nor domineering
