VANESSA CHAVEZ & YANITZA VARGAS GRADE 8 5/27/15
This example explains Love/Lust throughout The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet.

"FOR BEAUTY, STARVED WITH HER SEVERITY,

CUTS BEAUTY OFF FROM ALL PROSPERITY"
At the beginning of the Tragedy Romeo and Juliet, the charming Romeo falls in love with a beautiful lady named Rosaline. He falls deeply in "love" with Rosaline but she doesn't love him. The purpose for Romeo going to the ballroom party was to see Rosaline but he ends up seeing Juliet and starts to flirt with her and at the end falls deeply in "love".

Act1.1.227-228

LUST

"O, SHE DOTH TEACH TORCHES TO BURN BRIGHT!"
Wasn't Romeo deeply in love with Rosaline? Now he is all into Juliet. He was desperate for Rosaline but just by a day he forgets all about her. What did Romeo feel for Rosaline? No one knows. Why? The conflict comes into the audience's mind because now he is in love with Juliet. So, can it be love or lust what Romeo feels for Juliet?
Act 1.5.51

BALCONY SCENE---LOVE?

Juliet was at the balcony calling for Romeo saying how much she loved him and that's telling what Juliet actually feels for Romeo. Yet, Romeo didn't even mention marriage. Juliet did. She was talking about marriage and Romeo just accepted to get married but we don't know if he actually wanted to get married or just have sex with her. At the same time he probably does feel love for her because he accepted marriage with a women he didn't even know anything about. And he went to go look for her, so it's probably love.

Act2.2.90-97

ROMEO VS. PARIS

This is where we find out what Romeo has for Juliet -- love or lust. Well what Romeo has for Juliet is love because no guy would ever commit suicide for a girl if they did love the girl. We know it's love because as soon as Romeo saw Juliet "dead" he killed himself by taking the poison.

FAMILY FEUD---OVER!

The watch is alerted by Paris's page, and as soon as the Prince arrives to Juliet's tomb, he finds the three bodies laying dead. When the Prince, the Capulet's, and the Montague's arrive and notice that they have died, their deaths lead the two families to declare that the family hostility is at end.
