SECOND QUESTIONS:
As we have learned through our reading, the island that the boys now live on is made of pink granite. As we know, most island in the South Pacific are made of volcanic rock or other things of that nature, not something like granite (even of the pink variety). Now this brings about another question, if its impossible for the island to be made of pink granite then why did William Golding create the island out of it in the novel? In my opinion, I think he did it to show the spiritual strength of the island. It's island is obviously not just any regular island... As it reacts to each character differently. Don't quote me on it, but I think the pink granite will be a very important detail later in the novel.
