AFFIRMING THE CONSEQUENT.

  • Sometimes called the converse error
  • It is a formal fallacy of inferring the converse from the original statement
  • Ex. 1.If P, then Q. 2.Q. 3.therefore P.

FAULTY ANALOGY

  • It is a faulty instance of the argument of analogy.
  • Ex. An inference that someone is lazy because you observe that their brother is lazy.

NON SEQUITUR

  • An argument in which the conclusion doesn't follow it's premises
  • Life is life and fun is fun, but it's all so quiet when the goldfish die.

HASTY GENERALIZATION

  • An informal fallacy of faulty generalization by reaching an inductive generalization based on insufficient evidence
  • X is true for A. X is true for B. X is true for C. X is true for D. Therefore X is true for E,F,G etc.

  • A statement assumed to be logically valid because of popular support
  • Ex. Kony 2012, The world ending in 2012
