The Frankstown Path went from Standing Stone along the course of the Little Juniata River, and then the Frankstown Branch of the Juniata River. It went in a southward direction through the Canoe and Turkey Valleys to reach the trading post and Indian village in the area of Frankstown. At the area of the Indian village of Assunepachla, the trail branched off. The main branch turned west and followed the courses of Burgoons Run and Kittanning Run to the Kittanning Gap in the Allegheny Mountain range. After that it crossed the "clearfield" until it stopped at the Indian village of Kittanning. My sign is categorized as person because it's telling what Conrad Weiser thought of his journey.
Conrad Weiser's journey was in the mid 18th century ,It would be categorized as colonization time. It took Conrad about two weeks to start calling the Frankstown path "Shadow of Death" but the name will live on for centuries. This situation is similar to people climbing Mt. Everest because they now the risk yet the do it any way, now Conrad didn't now that it was as dangers as it really was but he still knew there was a risk.
