My trip around the 7th grade field trip at LLELA.

PRESENTATION OUTLINE

MY 7TH GRADE FIELD TRIP TO LLELA.

Made by: Emma Holloway

Tropism

Phototropism

  • Photo means light
  • Tropism means growth in responce to
  • So phototropism means growth in responce to light
  • Phototropism is literally all around you, so it is the easiest thing to spot on the trail

PHOTOTROPISM EXAMPLE

The tree is growing towards the light.

Although you can
not see the tree
that well.
The tree was fighting
the other trees
for sunlight.

THIGMOTROPISM

  • Thigmo means vines
  • Tropism means growth in responce to
  • Thigmotropism means growth in responce to vines
  • Thigmotropism is when twigs, sticks, or vines wrap around a plant.
  • You have to search kinda of hard to find a good example of thigmotropism.

In this picture you can see
the branches started to
rope around the tree.

GRAVATROPSISM

  • Gravi means gravity
  • Tropism means growth in responce to
  • So gravitropism mean growth in responce to gravity
  • There's two types of gravitropism, negative and positive
  • Negative is when the plant is going away from gravity or growing up
  • Positive is when the plant is growing towards gravity or downwards (the roots of the plant)

Negitive Gravitropism
The trees are growing away from gravity, they're growing upwards

Positive Gravitropism
Although the roots are
not in the best place,
it's a great example of positive gravitropism.
The roots grow towards the ground because of gravity

Animal Adapations

On the field trip you are bound to see many different animals and plants. Keep very careful watch and keep your eyes peeled you never know what types of critters you will see. (Take pictures of them to!)

This armadillo has adapted to LLELA and Texas weather.

Those little pod like things were plants we saw on the trail. The pods were seeds, the plant adapted.

This was the inside of one of the seed pods.

ECOZONES

ON THE TRAIL THERE ARE DEFIENT ECOZONES

  • My group went backwards around the trail
  • First we saw the deciduous forest
  • Then marsh
  • Then grassland
  • You will see an obvious change in eco zones so don't get scared off

DECIDIOUS FOREST

  • The forest has an amazing water view
  • Walking along the river you will see lots of things your scavenger hunt asks for
  • The forest is one of the prettiest things the trail has to offer

DECIDIOUS FOREST!

MARSH

  • We went to the marsh second
  • There are rumors of alligators there so be careful!
  • Along the marsh there are really cool bridges you get to go on
  • You will see most of the animals in the marsh

MARSH

GRASSLAND

  • The grassland isn't a big part of the trail, but it's there
  • The grassland has some very interesting plants

GRASSLAND

RITTER CEMETERY

RITTER CEMETERY

  • The cemetery is filled with people that were very influential in the making of Lewisville
  • People buried there vary from minutes old to ninety years old
  • Be very respectful of the headstones and flowers in the cemetery

EROSION

MOST OF THE EROSION WILL BE ALONG THE RIVER

POND 30

NATIVE

POND 30

  • At pond 30 native plants grow
  • There you do a series of tests in the pond
  • Our turbidity average was 25
  • At the pond I caught a water Scorpion (next slide)
  • Our ph balance was 6
  • Our dissolved oxygen level was 2%
  • Our water temperature was at an average of around 19 degrees
  • Our air temperature was 83 degrees

MY WATER SCORPION

ALONG THE TRAIL WE FOUND A CATFISH SKULL

THIS IS EVIDENCE OF DECOMPISTION AND ANIMAL EVIDENCE
