SETTING

  • Setting is the location in which a story takes place.
  • It is also the time that a certain event happens.
  • In many occurrences, the weather conditions and the mood matter.

CHARACTER

  • A character is an individual that takes part in the story.
  • Round characters have complex personalities.
  • Flat characters are only briefly presented in a story.
  • A dynamic character's personality changes during the story.
  • Static characters have a few characteristics that never change.

PLOT

  • The plot of a story is how the author elaborates his or her idea.
  • They do this by arranging the events in a certain order.
  • The five parts of a plot are:
  • Introduction, rising action, climax, falling action, and denouement.

CONFLICT

  • Conflict ties each occurrence in a story to each other.
  • In a story, there may be one or many struggles.
  • The conflict is a critical part in the plot.
  • The four types of conflict are:

POINT OF VIEW

  • Point of view is the perspective that the story is being told.
  • There are eight different points of view. They are:

THEME

  • Theme is described as the controlling idea of a story.
  • It is the idea that the author is trying to get across to the readers.
