EARLY LIFE

  • Lincoln ran his own store and once walked 3 miles to deliver the correct change that a customer forgot.
  • When Lincoln was 9 years old his mother died.
  • When his mother died, his father left him and his sister to go to Kentucky to find another wife. All they had to eat while he was gone was some dried berries and food their neighbor brought them when he found out they were alone and malnourished.

PERSONAL LIFE

  • Lincoln loved to read and spent most of his free time in a book. He would get every book he could.
  • Lincoln only hunted one time. He hated being the thing that took another creatures life. He only killed a turkey.
  • Lincoln's wife's name was Mary Todd and they had 4 children.

PRESIDENCY

  • Lincoln was the very first president from the Republican Party. He had no ballots cast for him in 10 out of the 15 slave states.
  • Lincoln wore a disguise to his inauguration to avoid the chance of assassination.
  • Lincoln's most notable thing he did in office was pass the Emancipation Proclamation to end slavery.
