Likes. Are they worth it?

Published on Jan 22, 2020

My Haiku Deck was created for my eighth grade Social Media class. I had to select a newspaper article about social media and create this presentation to inform people about Social Media. "Chasing "likes" on Instagram, hikers break limbs — and need rescuing." This article interested me because it shows the minds of people on social media.

Introduction Article

In the article "Chasing "likes" on Instagram, hikers break limbs — and need rescuing" from Los Angeles Times they talk about how people do dangerous things to get likes on Instagram, lots of people get hurt. So the real question is, are those extra likes worth it?

Check the pools!

Many people get seriously injured jumping into shallow pools. Try to check how deep it is before jumping. In this article, it talks about how to check and be prepared for having fun and not just going with no experience. I have done things like this in my lifetime. Trust me, it is not worth it.

Be prepared

Remember to pack things like a map, compass, sunscreen, extra food, extra water, extra clothing, a flashlight or headlamp, a first aid kit, matches, and a knife. Always be prepared, have you ever hiked in flip flops? Yeah, not fun. Camping is a lot of fun but if you forget something, you will most likely be miserable for the rest of the trip.

Conclusion

Think before you do, if you just do something only for the picture, you may get seriously injured. Our world is filled with people trying to get attention. Trust me, you don't get very popular from taking a picture of you plunging into shallow water. All you get is a broken leg or two. Likes are not the best thing ever. In conclusion, social media tricks adults and kids brains into doing something. So please, be smart.
