LIGHTNING SAFETY

  • You always have to have practice, to make it right!
  • Never use a corded phone once you hear thunder, UNLESS FOR EMERGENCY.
  • Always stay in shelter after 30 minutes of thunder.
  • NEVER stand near electrical wire, during thunder or lightning.

  • When you are outside and you are near a car no matter what get into it.
  • If you hear thunder there is ALWAYS lightning.
  • Make sure you are always monitoring the weather because you never know what could happen!
  • There is a little saying *when thunder roars go indoors*

  • Did you know there are usually about 25 million strikes per year!
  • If a storm is happening never get next to a tall tree.
  • There is no safe places outside at all.
  • Always be prepared and know what your going to do!

  • Water pipes even conduct electricity, so never take a shower or bath during a storm.
  • On average there are usually 400 people struck by lightning, and about 55 are killed.
  • They kill as much people as tornadoes, and more than hurricanes a year!
