SAFETY TIPS (OUTSIDE)

  • If you here thunder head for a vehicle or a building.
  • Avoid water, high elevated areas, metal objects, and open spaces.

SAFETY TIPS (INSIDE)

  • If you are inside avoid windows or doors
  • Do not use the telephone
  • Take of headsets
  • Unplug any electrical appliances like: computers, power tools, and TV sets.

LIGHTNING STRIKE FACTS

  • One lightning bolt contains a hundred million electrical volts.
  • A bolt can be 5 miles in length and can be 50,000 degrees Fahrenheit.

MORE FACTS

  • There is an average of 25 million lightning strikes per year.
  • Since 2006, there have been 223 lightning related deaths.
