PRESENTATION OUTLINE

LIFE WITHOUT LEVELS...

FREEDOM FROM 'IMPOSED' PUPIL MEASURES

HOW SOME TEACHER FEEL...

HOW OTHER TEACHERS FEEL...

WHY HAVE ASSESSMENT LEVELS DISAPPEARED?

THE CURSE OF THE SUB-LEVEL

DIFFICULT TO UNDERSTAND

A LACK OF CONSISTANCY

GRADE NOT PROGRESS

LACK OF 'REAL' FEEDBACK

AND THE GOOD BITS?...

  • Pupils, staff and stakeholders understand structure
  • Evidences progress for OFSTED, obs, benchmarking
  • Links to KS2 levels and SISRA data management
  • New KS3 NC already linked to levels for this year

WHAT HAPPENS NOW?

WILL 1 BE THE HIGHEST?

  • Original plan - but NO
  • 9 will be the highest grade
  • Scope for 10's and 11's for top students
  • High numbers worth more match pt score

HOW DOES THE RANGE COMPARE?

  • Start at grade 4=existing grade C
  • Grade 7=proportion achieving an A
  • Grade 9=exceptional performance
  • Grade 5=new pass grade & benchmarked
  • internationally (original aim)
