LIFE ON THE HOMEFRONT

WARTIME SHORTAGES

  • Labor shortages were felt in agriculture.
  • Docters had limited supplies for the injured so they had to reuse medical items.
  • People living on the homestead were very short in food productions.
  • Americans were short in food productions since Japan was the main provider.

HOMEFRONT AMMUNITION

  • On the homefront they were armed with weapons.
  • They always had to be prepared to evacuate quickly.
  • The homefront engaged in several activities to help Britain's front line.
  • They created walls for the fighters to protect them.

HOMEFRONT CONSERVATION

  • People created posters that told them to salvage for their military.
  • They told each other to spare food and supplies.
  • They spared fuel and oil.
  • They saved aluminum cans so they could be turned into ammunition.
  • School children planted crops, and people saved sugar.

EVERYONE'S DUTY

  • Every combatant and noncombatant of the war was effected in some way.
  • Everybody had their own duty to either fight in the war or suffer through the harsh times.
  • When the young men were drafted to the war, teenagers were forced to work in their places and take care of the woman.
  • In the end all the hard work payed off and WW2 was a success for the United States of America.
