MAIN IDEA

• There have been both improvements and downfalls since Mandela's death

IMPROVEMENTS:

• Many homes now have electricity and running water
• The number of blacks graduating from universities has increase 4x
• Different races are now starting to socialize with each other

DOWNFALLS

• 85% of black South Africans remain poor: 87% of whites are middle/upper class
• Current president, Jacob Zuma has been accused of corruption and rape

RESPONSE:

• I think it's good that South Africa is somewhat improving
• It's also upsetting that 85% of blacks remain poor, yet 87% of whites are middle/upper class
