• Lichens are fungi and either algae or autotrophic bacteria working together in a mutual symbiotic relationship.

HOW LICHENS WORK

• The fungus gets food from the algae or bacteria and the algae at bacteria gets shelter from the fungus.

SOME FOODS MADE WITH FUNGI

• Many Asian cultures use fungi in food, in dishes such as any bread that uses yeast, stuffed mushrooms and mushrooms in stew and truffles.

FUNHI ARE USEFUL

• Fungi are useful because the decompose dead stuff. Earth would be covered with dead stuff if fungi didn't exist. They are also used in biocontrol to kill harmful insects.

WHERE ARE LICHENS

• Lichens grow tree barks or rocks.
• Like on old statues like in background.
