  • 1910: Japan colonizes Korea which still creates tension between the two countries today 1945: After WWII USSR and USA divide Korea into North and South territories 1948: Leaders of both North and South Korea declare jurisdiction over the entire country 1950: North Korea starts a war with South Korea 1953: Armistice is signed and the demilitarized zone is created which separates families to this day
