MEASUREMENT TOPIC NAME

WHAT IS A MEASUREMENT TOPIC ANYWAY?
MTP = Measurement Topic Plan

Measurement topics are the standards for learning. They are the curriculum framework that guides teachers in their instruction and lesson planning.

DURATION

This is approximate. You will need to tailor the duration to the. Weds of your students.

ESSENTIAL QUESTION

These essential questions are for the measurement topic. They are for guidance in writing your lesson plan EQs which will be customized for more specific targets.

Reminder: these should not be yes or no questions. They should force the student to think on the topic about which they are learning.

Bad Example: Are fractions related to decimals?
Good Example: explain how fraction are related to decimals.

STANDARDS

Standards focus on core conceptual understandings and procedures. They clearly communicate what is expected of students at each grade level.

The Next Generation Sunshine State Standards and the Common Core Standards are found on CPALMS at http://www.cpalms.org.

FORMATIVE ASSESSMENTS

Assessment which will be used to evaluate student learning and alter instruction based on level of comprehension. These are tools that are to be used in aiding student growth, not in evaluating student achievement.

LEARNING GOAL

Learning goals provide a map, or guide, that tell students where the course is going.

They answer two questions:

1. What do you want students to know by the time they finish a section, chapter, unit, or course?

2. What do you want students to be able to do with what they now know?

MISCONCEPTIONS

I'M JUST A BOY WHOSE INTENTIONS ARE GOOD...
The misconceptions listed in the Measurement Topic plan are common misconceptions that the students have relevant to the topic. The list is not all inclusive. If you find additional common misconceptions, please email Lisa.tindall@ocps.net and we will look at adding them when the MTPs are revised.

CORE PRINT RESOURCES

The main print resource for most courses are the adopted textbooks. Additionally, we have included other, digitized, documents. If you have any others you would like included or to offer for inclusion, please email lisa.tindall@ocps.net.

CORE DIGITAL RESOURCES

SAFARI MONTAGE
Core digital resources are those which have been uploaded to Safari Montage. The digital resources could include some combination of the following: presentations, video, simulations, interactive, etc. The MTPs list the titles of the resources. Please search them in Safari Montage to gain access.

Safari Montage is a work in progress. We are continually working to make it more user-friendly, comprehensive, and functional.

FOR EXAMPLE...

You can find the example lesson plant at:

This lesson plan is based off of the MTP you will find on the next slide. It gives teachers an idea of what they will be doing when they write their own lesson plans.
