GENERAL INFORMATION

  • Lenin was born in April 22nd 1870 and died January 21st 1924
  • His full name was Vladimir Ilyich Ulyanov
  • He was leader of the Soviet Union and the Russian SFSR from 1917
  • When he died, his body was mummified
  • A street in Russia was named after him

PRIVATE LIFE

  • Lenin's birth place was Simbirsk
  • He was born into a well-educated family and excelled at school
  • However, he was expelled from uni for his radical policies
  • His brother was executed due to assassination plans on the Emperor in1887
  • He eventually completed his law degree in 1891 and moved to St. Petersburg

THE SOVIET UNION

  • Lenin was the leader of the Soviet Union
  • The Germans intended to invade Russia
  • Because of this, Lenin fought to fight the peace treaty
  • He believed in communism where all were equal
  • He wanted to overthrow the government

ANIMAL FARM

  • Lenin is represented by the part of the Old Major
  • Orwell portrays Major as the iconic leader that sets off the chaos at Animal Farm
  • Like Old Major, Lenin's ideas are twisted and changed by his replacements
  • George Orwell respected Lenin's ideas, and therefore he made all the animals equal like the idea of Communism
  • Old Major name can also be said to represent Lenin as he was the primer head of the Soviet Union.
