PRESENTATION OUTLINE

LAW OF SINES

EDWING RANGEL

Before you start your journey to save the princess, there's a few things you must know in order to be successful.

A) PREPARING/PRIOR KNOWLEDGE

  • Sin= Opposite/hypotenuse and it equals Y. Whereas cos represents X
  • An Oblique triangle has no right angles
  • The sine function is a/sinA= b/sinB= c/sinC and is used to solve oblique triangles
  • Herons formula is used to find the area of a triangle
  • How do we use law of sines to solve problems and determine the angle or side of a triangle

B) TRAINING/INTERPRET RULES

Law of sines to solve oblique triangles: If A, B, and C are the measures of the angles of a triangle and a, b, and c are the lengths of the sides then they correspond

Herons area formula is to be used when the lengths of all three sides are given. For example a, b, and c

FIRST CALCULATE YOUR "S"

S =A + B + C / 2

USING YOUR "S" CALCULATE THE ARE

A =(SQUARE ROOT) S(S-A)(S-B)(S-C)

Now let's test what you've learned. To save the princess!

REAL WORLD PROBLEM. HOW LONG OF A LADDER WILL BE NEEDED TO REACH THE PRINCESS?
