HOW ARE THEY FORMED

DELTAS

  • Deltas are formed by heavy rain
  • They carry sediments and small rocks
  • Rivers or lakes carry them
  • And the sediment is deposited in a large body of water
  • Creating a delta

CANYONS

  • Canyons are formed same as caves by water
  • The water erodes the edges and creates a space
  • The flowing water carries the sediment away
  • That then flows of to the ocean

CAVES

  • Caves are formed by runing water
  • Caves normally form underwater
  • Or were once under water
  • Many of the stalagtights you see
  • Are made of a mixture of limestone and water

  • A Sand dune is formed when...
  • The wind picks up sand and drops it
  • It either hits a dune or...
  • The wind current stops

  • Plateaus are formed by the power of wind and water
  • They normally form near oceans
  • Because the wind and waves are so strong that...
  • They cut in and erode the landform
  • The plateaus come in many shapes and sizes

STRIKE RIDGE

  • A strike ridge or homoclinal ridge
  • Is a hill or ridge with a a degrees of 10 to 30
  • On its backslope or dip slope
  • The front of it or the frontslope is almost cliff-like
  • They can be formed with clay, sand, or out of mountains
