KING WILLIAM I

BIRTH

  • He was born in Berlin, Prussia
  • On March 22, 1797

FAMILY

  • He was the second son of King Fredrick William III
  • And Louise of Mecklenburg-Strelitz

ACCOMPLISHMENTS

  • He was made a captain And earned the iron cross for his actions Bar-sur-Aube
  • In 1815, William was promoted to Major and commanded a battalion of the Garderegiment
  • In 1816, William became the commander of the Stettiner Gardelandwehrbataillon
  • and in 1818 was promoted to Generalmajor.
  • In 1820, William became commander of the Gardedivision

WARS INVOLVED IN

  • He fought against Napoleon in the Napoleonic wars
  • He fought under Gebhard Leberecht von Blücher at the Battles of Ligny and Waterloo.

POSITIVE

  • He had a lot of military accomplishments
  • He became king of Prussia on January 2, 1861 up to March 9, 1888
  • He became German emperor on January 18, 1971 up to March 9, 1888
  • And president of the north German confederation on July 1, 1867
  • Up to January 18, 1871

DEATH

  • He died on March 9, 1888
  • And was buried in Charlottenburg Palace

MY OPINION

  • I think that king William was a good leader
  • He won a few wars
  • He had quite a bit of military accomplishments
  • He also conquered territories
