WHAT DID THE TEXT MEAN TO THE ORIGINAL AUDIENCE?

• They believed that you cant re-enter your mom's womb, that what they thought rebirth meant
• The text meant they( nicodemus) needed to be reborn again in the spirit.

WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THE BIBLICAL AUDIENCE AND US

• Today we know there is no possible way to be reborn in our mother's womb
• There are lots of people now to tell us about baptism and what it means to be reborn
• Campared to that, im guesing that there wasnt many people to tell them what it meant to be reborn
• Thats why they need christ(jesus)

THE THEOLOGICAL PRINCIPLE OF THE TEXT

• The theological principle is that we should be reborn so we can join them in heaven
