PHYSICAL CHARCTARISTICS

  • Coral can't survive in temps lower than 18 degrees Celsius they grow best in temps between 23-29 degrees Celsius. Although there has been cases where coral has been able to survive in 40 degrees Celsisus.
  • You can find coral reefs from about 70-91m deep in the ocean.
  • Coral reefs prefer more warm shallow water than deep cold water.
  • You can find coral reefs in almost every ocean but the most famous The Great Barrier Reef is located in the Pacific.

TIDE & CURRENT ACTIVITY

  • Tides do effect coral reefs by hitting them and breaking pieces off

UNIQUE ORGANISMS

  • The black tip reef shark and white tip reef sharks are unique because they help keep the fish population also something cool the black tip shark incubate their baby's 16 months before giving birth.
  • White tip sharks are unique in that they use the coral to their advantage to hunt their pray. When they are asleep they stack on top of each other.

WHY ARE CORAL REEFS ARE UNIQUE?

  • It holds millions of years of marine life history.
  • They are some of earths largest structures.
  • There're are hundreds of organisms of all kinds living in coral reefs.
