CULTURAL REGION

• A region with people who share common cultural charactersitic's
• Characteristics include language , political system , religion , foods , customs, and participation
• Example:

FUNCTIONAL REGION

• Is an area defined by one function that may cross political boundaries
• Drainage basin of a great river , connected several states
• Is organized a focal point , such as a city metropolitan and area.
• Ex rio grand valley

PERCEPTUAL REGION

• Is based on people's attitudes and emotions about a place such as a deep-south
• A perceptual region may not be based on real facts or conditions
• Ex New York City

MIDDLE EAST

• Might be viewed as a physical region
• This region has a war , dry climate with many desserts and mountain areas
• They also have several fertile river valleys and mild coastal areas
• Ex: Algeria , Africa , Egypt , Asia , Iraq

SUEZ CANAL

• Connects the Mediterranean Sea with the Indian ocean

LATIN AMERICA

• Applied to all the Americas south of the United States
• This large cultural region consist of four main areas
• It's called Latin America because it was onced colonized by Spain and portugal

PANAMA CANAL

• It's another important human made feature in this region
• This 48 mile canal through panama joins the Atlantic and pacific oceans and serves as a major for internal nation trade

SUB-SAHARAN AFRICA

• Different climate topography and non Arab populations is seen as forming a separate distinct cultural region
• Most region have warm climate

OCEANIA

• Geographers refer to these pacific islands
• South east Asia has been heavily affected by the large mix of people's coming into this region.
