  • Jupiter orbits around the Sun once every 11.86 Earth years.
  • Jupiter rotates on its axis once in a little less than 10 hours

APPEARANCE

  • Largest planet in our solar system
  • Colorful bands
  • The Great Red Spot
  • Striped appearance

Untitled Slide

  • Size: largest planet, could hold more than 1300 earths.
  • Mass:1.89813 × 1027 kilograms, 2.5 times more massive than other planets.
  • Moons: 63,Largest moons of Jupiter are Io, Europa, Ganymede, and Callisto
  • Discovered by Galileo Galilee. They are known as the Galilean satellites.
  • Rings: 3, found by NASA's Voyager 1 spacecraft in 1979

Untitled Slide

  • Composition: gas giant, Internal structure:fluid metallic hydrogen, gaseous and liquid hydrogen.
  • Gravity: 2.5 that of earth, Jupiuter's surface gravity is about 23.6N/kg, 100 lbs = 235 lbs on jupiter
  • Atmosphere:89.8% molecular hydrogen, 10.2% helium, ammonia, hydrogen deuteride, ethane, water, ammonia hydrosulfide
  • Temperature: Averages -234 degrees Fahrenheit.

THE GREAT RED SPOT

  • A huge hurricane like storm
  • It has been going on for nearly 400 years.
  • Three Earths could fit inside it.

Untitled Slide

  • Jupiter is the number one travel destination in our solar system.
  • It is the largest planet.
  • You can see the Great Red Spot.
  • You should bring warm clothes since it's very cold there.
  • The clouds give it pretty colors and it's nice to look at.
