JURY SERVICES

JURY SELECTION AND SERVICE ACT

  • the process for selecting jurors and it outlines qualifications
  • a person must meet to serve on a federal jury
  • Two types: trial and grand jury

SELECTION

  • Potential jurors are chosen from a jury pool generated
  • by random selection of citizens' names from lists of
  • registered voters, or combined lists of voters
  • and people with drivers licenses, in the judicial district.

QUALIFICATION

  • Must be a citizen, 18+, reside primarily
  • In judicial district for one year, can speak proficient
  • English, and is not mentally and physically disabled.
  • Etc.

GETTING PAID !!!!!

  • Petit jury pays $40 per day they can
  • make up to $50 per day serving a 10day trail
  • Grand jury pays $40 per day, they can also make
  • Up to $50 per day only if serving up to a 45 day trial
